HISTORY
G & M Distributors is a wholesale beverage distributor providing sales, service and delivery to over 2000 customers in a 10 county area in Western Illinois. The company is located in Galesburg, Illinois. G. Louis Vitale founded the corporation in 1946, and Guy L. Vitale, Jr. is its current general manager and president.

The corporation has three departments: Anheuser-Busch, Pepsi, and L/W/B (Liquor, Wine, and Beer). Each department represents its supplier or group of suppliers exclusively in designated territories. In addition, each has a separate workforce that markets its products to retail trade outlets such as grocery stores, restaurants, taverns, discount stores, etc. Alcoholic beverage products may only be sold to customers with valid local and state liquor licenses.

G & M offers three services directly to the public. These are aluminum can recycling, home and office 5-gallon water delivery, and brand identified clothing and items such as steins, hats, coolers, and more.

If you are traveling Interstate 74, either east or west, exit Route 34 west for approximately five miles. Exit Main Street; turn left at the stop sign; go to the first stop light. Turn left on Linwood Road. Go an eighth of a mile and turn left into the parking lot.

G & M is the authorized distributor for Chippewa Spring Water for a 5-county area: Knox, Warren, Henderson, Mercer & the southern portion of Henry County. The company provides weekly delivery service to homes and offices in these counties. Customers may also pick up water at the Galesburg warehouse. Our office hours are Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

RECYCLING
ALUMINUM CANS FOR CASH
G & M has recycled aluminum cans since 1973. G & M is affiliated with Anheuser-Busch Recycling Corporation, an Anheuser-Busch subsidiary. A-B Recycling is the world's largest recycler of aluminum cans. Achievement Industries, located in Monmouth, Illinois is also affiliated with G & M recycling, and all proceeds are returned 100% to Achievement Industries.

Approximately 29 cans are in a pound of aluminum. Aluminum cans are the most efficient recycling commodity because about 95% of the material can be recovered and reused.

The company pays cash on the spot for aluminum cans only. In addition, through recycling, the company sponsors fund raisers with local area organizations such as Habitat for Humanity, Adopt-A-Park, Knox County Humane Society, and others. The G & M Recycling Center operates six days a week at its Galesburg warehouse. Hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to noon.

Most items are sold through the Anheuser-Busch division and display Anheuser-Busch logos such as Budweiser & Bud Light. These items must be ordered directly from our company.

UNDERAGE DRINKING PREVENTION
Responsibility matters when it comes to helping prevent underage drinking. A recent survey by Pacific Data Development Corp. asked adult consumers nationwide about their attitudes and views on ID checking. The survey found:

· Nearly three-quarters (72%) of Americans who have purchased alcohol say they have had their ID checked when making an alcohol purchase. 92% of young adults (ages 21-39) who have purchased alcohol say they have been “carded” when making alcohol purchases.

· Seven in 10 Americans say they have seen someone carded when trying to purchase alcohol.

· The vast majority of Americans (85%) believe that promoting ID checking is a good or excellent way to help reduce underage drinking. These findings are good news and illustrate that responsibility does matter.
